My Maiden Voyage to CVS

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.7

Didn't save as much as I had originally planned, but didn't do too bad considering I had no Extra Care Bucks to roll over into this purchase.

1st check-out: Teva pads- $9.95- $2.50 coupon= $7.49/ $8.09 with tax. Got back $9.99 in Extra Care Bucks = this item was basically free with 'benefits'!

2nd check-out:
Irish Spring body wash: $2.99-50cent coupon- $2.45- Extra Care Bucks: $2.25
Irish Spring deodorant: $2.99-$1.00 coupon = $1.99- Extra care bucks: $2.25
Oral B toothbrushes- 2 for $4.50-75 cent coupon= $3.75

-$9.99 e.c.b= $1.31

ecb received from this check-out; $4.50

To total: I spent $9.40, and with the $4.50 ecb received for next purchase = total cost: $4.90

I have realized the key to this is buying things that you get the most E.C.B. for and have coupons for. I still left CVS with a feeling of elation because essentially, I saved a wad of cash, and 2: I did the multiple checkout thing with no problem, except that I think I stressed out the clerk a bit :)

on another note: I went to Walgreens on Monday, where they had a BOGO sale on Right Guard deodorant. I also had 2 BOGO coupons. SO: four full size deodorants were absolutely, 100% FREE! woo hoo!

Kudos to my friend, Callie, for showing me the beauty of CVS!
I <3 CVS!

Clippin Q's

Ok so my first trip to the store to save money with q's didn't go so well.  For one, I had 3 kids with me and trying to think when two of em are fighting and one fussin', well... forget about it!  Plus I was a little confused at how the whole double coupon, etc. worked.

So, i am making another go at it today.  I shall hit walmart with my Publix ad in hand, checking prices, as well as a handful of coupons for both stores, and plan to swing by Walgreens to pick up a coupon book.  I have also stocked my Reader with the RSS feeds of a handful of coupon sites.

AND the piece de resistance... I just signed up for an Extreme Couponing class in a few weeks.  2 hours of my time and I hope to leave with lots of understanding of how to save money with coupons.  Spring Break from Kennesaw State next week = less school work due right away, so hopefully i can use homework time to focus on this and attempt to make a go at it.

Wish me luck!

Miss Diana, you'd be proud!

Yes I will have to share this on Miss Diana Darcey's FB page, as sitting here printing and cutting coupons, I am brought back to the room in her house with filing cabinets FULL of coupons!  I have wanted to get into this for some time now, but my organizational skills have been lacking with getting around to it.  I figure if I devote at least one day of "homework time" a week to attempting to find coupons for the stuff on my shopping list that I will make a dent in what we spend in groceries each week.  (How do moms of boys do it?  Geez these girls eat a lot!)
I will also attempt to keep track of how much I spend each week on here.  I am excited about this because maybe I found out a method to the madness, of only searching for things that I know we will use.  There are SOOO many coupon websites out there!  Redplum, cellfire, southernsavers... I should link them all here, I know, as any good blogger will do, but I have 10 minutes until the kids get off of the bus and I want to go searching for more money savers!

HEY MUST BE THE MONEY!!!!!
