Christmas Cookie Extravaganza

Autumn watchin the big sissies.. waiting for her turn.

Lauryn helping baby girl.

Camryn looks like she is about to unleash the power of the flour. :)

Tay Tay came to play, too.

She loved squeezing the icing.

Camryn's "tribute" to Katniss Everdeen,
main character in The Hunger Games.
I love her armor made of Sno-Caps!

Camryn's Draco Malfoy cookie.
Something about "20 lashes" with purple sprinkles,

only Camryn :)

Autie was making her way around to snipe some candies from
that side of the table.

Good times...

Everyone's gone...
Autie's turn to make a "golly-mah-cha" of what's left of the goodies!

Wanna Hear About My Crappy Morning?

So my morning was so eventful that it surpassed being worthy of a simple Facebook status. I feel an entire blog entry is in order here!

The start of the day went well and without a hitch, with three big girls hitting the roads to their respective schools. We had a few errands to run, so off Autumn & I went right after breakfast. Kohl's was awesome, as we found a few real awesome deals, and was offered a 30% off coupon (better than my 15%!) by the customer checking out before me. Then we headed to Petco for Guinny boy food; Autumn loved the fish- I can't wait to bring her to the aquarium!

("Patty," you say, "this isn't sounding too 'crappy'." Hang in there, I say! It gets better!)

Off we go to Wal-Mart...

So I stop for a second in the parking lot to organize some coupons, think to myself that I don't need the diaper bag cuz I will be no longer than 30 minutes, grab a cute little baby out of the seat, and hop out.... press "lock" on the doors... slam the door, and realize...
the damn keys are inside...

SECOND time in a month I lock myself out of the van
(I've never done this while driving this bus of a vehicle, btw)
to manage to do it twice in a month.. ggrrrrr...

So Todd tells me he is on his way from work to assist me
My buddy Tara says she could come get us and bring us home, but we'll just stay and take our time with shopping...

Autumn is decently good in the store.. (after eating half of the groceries I put in the cart!)... and while killing time in the jewelry, I HEAR Autumn and then I SMELL her...

recall I left the diaper bag in the van...

but no worries, I think, I'll go check out, and in the buggy are diapers and wipes and I'll take care of the problem

well of course there are only 2 checkout lanes open... so we wait and wait... again, other than upending some gift card displays at the checkout (why are those at kid level anyway???) Autumn is behaving even tho we are waiting forever.

So here it is, our turn to checkout... things are going well, I am organizing my price matches with my circulars from a few stores, getting coupons out, etc... when I look down at my sweet, well-behaving angel....

...and there she stands, one hand still in the back of her diaper, the other covered in POOP. I scramble for paper towels from the cashier, and in the process Autumn wipes her hands on my shirt, on the coupons that were still in my hand, and apparently I learned when I got home, on her face and in her hair.

All of this at the time when I am attempting to tell the cashier which circular my price match items are in....

well, we managed to keep the poop contamination to a minimum, get out of there without the cashier realizing what was going on or without her puking on us, get to the bathroom for a clean up, and just in time for Todd to pull up next to the van and unlock it for us.

So essentially, not a bad morning, but literally, CRAPPY!

Back to the Beanstalk

Lauryn had her first weekend of performances, as Molly Mouse in the Blackwell Children's Theater production of "Back to the Beanstalk".  Thanks to her friend, Ashley, who invited her to come along to a workshop in July, as Todd and I have been wanting to get the girls (those willing and wanting) involved in something like this!

At this performance, the only video camera I had access to was my phone, so the video clips are short and not the best quality, but you get the picture.
Here are a handful of "mice" videos.

Here is one of my favorites!
Lauryn (Molly) is giving a "love pep talk" to Marci Mouse, who is in love with Randy Rat. Evidentally, Mouse and Rat love is TABOO!
(the mouse at the beginning on the right is the girls' friend, Ashley)

The Butcher song! Another of my favorites. Samuel K. does an awesome job as the butcher!

Butcher talking Jack into trading the cow for the magic beans.

Randy Rat and Molly Mouse professing their love to one another. SOOO cute!

The Piper comes to town!

Acrostic Poem by Lauryn

For one of my classes, I had to come up with a lesson plan  that utilized an Internet Tool.  I chose annotating an acrostic poem in Flickr.  Lauryn was, of course, my willing subject and created this poem.  NOW, if you click the poem, it will bring you to the actual picture of it in Flickr.  Hover your mouse over each of the capital letters and a link will come up to another picture that she chose to annotate/illustrate each of the letters in the word.

My Maiden Voyage to CVS

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.7

Didn't save as much as I had originally planned, but didn't do too bad considering I had no Extra Care Bucks to roll over into this purchase.

1st check-out: Teva pads- $9.95- $2.50 coupon= $7.49/ $8.09 with tax. Got back $9.99 in Extra Care Bucks = this item was basically free with 'benefits'!

2nd check-out:
Irish Spring body wash: $2.99-50cent coupon- $2.45- Extra Care Bucks: $2.25
Irish Spring deodorant: $2.99-$1.00 coupon = $1.99- Extra care bucks: $2.25
Oral B toothbrushes- 2 for $4.50-75 cent coupon= $3.75

-$9.99 e.c.b= $1.31

ecb received from this check-out; $4.50

To total: I spent $9.40, and with the $4.50 ecb received for next purchase = total cost: $4.90

I have realized the key to this is buying things that you get the most E.C.B. for and have coupons for. I still left CVS with a feeling of elation because essentially, I saved a wad of cash, and 2: I did the multiple checkout thing with no problem, except that I think I stressed out the clerk a bit :)

on another note: I went to Walgreens on Monday, where they had a BOGO sale on Right Guard deodorant. I also had 2 BOGO coupons. SO: four full size deodorants were absolutely, 100% FREE! woo hoo!

Kudos to my friend, Callie, for showing me the beauty of CVS!
I <3 CVS!

Clippin Q's

Ok so my first trip to the store to save money with q's didn't go so well.  For one, I had 3 kids with me and trying to think when two of em are fighting and one fussin', well... forget about it!  Plus I was a little confused at how the whole double coupon, etc. worked.

So, i am making another go at it today.  I shall hit walmart with my Publix ad in hand, checking prices, as well as a handful of coupons for both stores, and plan to swing by Walgreens to pick up a coupon book.  I have also stocked my Reader with the RSS feeds of a handful of coupon sites.

AND the piece de resistance... I just signed up for an Extreme Couponing class in a few weeks.  2 hours of my time and I hope to leave with lots of understanding of how to save money with coupons.  Spring Break from Kennesaw State next week = less school work due right away, so hopefully i can use homework time to focus on this and attempt to make a go at it.

Wish me luck!

Miss Diana, you'd be proud!

Yes I will have to share this on Miss Diana Darcey's FB page, as sitting here printing and cutting coupons, I am brought back to the room in her house with filing cabinets FULL of coupons!  I have wanted to get into this for some time now, but my organizational skills have been lacking with getting around to it.  I figure if I devote at least one day of "homework time" a week to attempting to find coupons for the stuff on my shopping list that I will make a dent in what we spend in groceries each week.  (How do moms of boys do it?  Geez these girls eat a lot!)
I will also attempt to keep track of how much I spend each week on here.  I am excited about this because maybe I found out a method to the madness, of only searching for things that I know we will use.  There are SOOO many coupon websites out there!  Redplum, cellfire, southernsavers... I should link them all here, I know, as any good blogger will do, but I have 10 minutes until the kids get off of the bus and I want to go searching for more money savers!
